“A group that stands above the rest… carving out their very own space in the often-saturated music industry.”

“Zippy pop bang with a gently psychedelic side”
Track of the Week, The Guardian Guide
“Bad Sounds are one of the most exciting new groups in the country; a band whose myriad fresh sounds are matched
by a stunning, creative, highly imaginative live show.’ CLASH
“Blending the bombastic nature of A Tribe Called Quest’s early material and the wicked storytelling of Jamie T” NME
Bad Sounds – the band formed by Wiltshire-based brothers Ewan and Callum Merrett – release their debut album
‘Get Better’ on 17 th August on Insanity Records. This sonic self-help manual exploring death, anxiety, friendship and
more is a guide to not just getting through life, but living it to the max.
“Eat Right, Think Right, Get Better
Love Life, You Time, Get Better
Guilt Traps, Relapse, Get Better
Sleep Less, Speak More, Get Better”
The album features the singles ‘Wages’, a song about juggling work and chasing dreams of pop stardom; ‘Evil
Powers’; and ‘Avalanche’, a snapshot of everyday life told via trues stories about the Merrett brothers’ friends.
Annie Mac has already picked five of the band’s songs as her Hottest Record in the World. It’s no surprise Bad
Sounds are a firm radio favourite; their big pop anthems, brimming with huge choruses, hooks powerful enough to
fell tower blocks, and inspiring lyrical messages, bear (loud) repeated listening. The album is co-produced by Callum
and Ewan and James Dring, mixed by Ben Baptie.
Bad Sounds have also announced their biggest headline UK tour, including a show at London’s Heaven venue in
October. The band’s live show is becoming a word-of-mouth sensation as they turn every show into a full-on party,
and creating a colourful subversive experience for the audience.
Ewan and Callum Merrett started out on different musical paths before Bad Sounds was born. Ewan made hip-hop
beats and played with samples, while Callum was working in recording studios and obsessing over the music of
Michael Jackson, Curtis Mayfield, Beck and Flaming Lips. Combining their different loves, Bad Sounds are conjuring
their own unique pop magic.
